My name is Tanay Mukherji, and I thrive in leadership situations that are event-oriented and challenging, where I can truly let my creativity shine. I have a deep love for literature, drama, and a variety of co-curricular activities that allow me to express my passions through learning.
As the School Head Boy for the 2024-25 session, I had the incredible opportunity to lead and engage with my peers in many ways. One of my main responsibilities was being a core member of the Student Innovation Council, where I worked alongside fellow students on initiatives aimed at enhancing our school environment. This experience really helped to sharpen my leadership skills and fostered a strong sense of teamwork.
Throughout my school years, I have taken charge of various marketing and tech initiatives for key events like Innoverse, which focus on celebrating innovation and creativity. This role has demanded strategic planning and effective communication to motivate participants and volunteers, ensuring that each event runs smoothly and leaves a lasting impression on everyone involved. One of my proudest achievements has been delivering two TEDed Talks on topics I’m passionate about. Public speaking is a true love of mine, as it allows me to share my ideas clearly and effectively.
Now, as an IPM student at IIM Jammu, I spend my time engaged in classes and having fun with friends. Along with that, I am also a part of the IT Committee at the institute.
Beyond my academics, I have a keen interest in languages, coding, and content writing. In my free time, I find joy in creative pursuits like video editing, which I explored during an internship at a reputable company. This experience not only honed my technical skills but also offered me valuable insights into the professional world, enabling me to apply my creativity in real-life scenarios.
Driven by an endless curiosity and a commitment to leadership, I aim to make a positive impact in both my surroundings and the broader community. My motivation stems from a desire to inspire innovation and unite efforts toward creating a better future.
My name’s Tanay Mukherji, and apparently, I peak in situations that are loud, chaotic, and slightly on fire due to ADHD. I’ve also got a soft spot for literature and drama, and everything creative.
I served as Head Boy for the 2024-25 session, which sounds very official until you realise it mostly meant being the first person blamed for basically everything. I was also part of the Student Innovation Council, which is a much cooler way of saying I spent a lot of time sitting in the school’s Atal Tinkering Lab doing the most random things.
Then there’s Innoverse, where I ran marketing one year and tech the next, presumably because someone decided I needed to suffer through both halves of event planning before I was allowed to graduate. Somewhere in that chaos, I also gave two TEDed Talks, both about paradoxes, because the only ideas I seem worthy enough to say out loud in front of people are the ones that don’t fully make sense even to me.
These days I’m doing the IPM at IIM Jammu, which mostly means attending class, having fun with people now permanently stuck hearing my opinions, and sitting on the IT Committee.
Outside of all that, I’m weirdly into languages, coding, and content writing, a combination that tends to make career counsellors visibly confused. I also edit videos, something I got properly into during an internship, mostly by trial and error in softwares I didn’t understand yet and learning fast out of necessity.
If there’s a theme here, it’s that I get curious about something, throw myself in completely, and somehow end up in charge of it. I’d like to call that a strategy. In reality it’s just an accident that kept working.
